Different ways of spiking the ball. Disclaimer  This is not to teach you how to hit the balls but the different ways that you could hit the volleyball.  the are 5 different types of hits  The Bounce -hard the Cross- hard the Angle -easy the Line -easy then the tip -easy A bounce ball is when the ball is hit before the 10 foot line with enough force to make it bounce.  a cross is hitting the ball  in the 10 foot line but at an angle.   an angle hit is when the hitter is hitting past the 10 foot line and at an angle line is hitting the ball in a straight line  a tip is barely putting and force  Each was labeled differently based on the difficulty and the steps. the ones named easy are the one you will see the most used by lower experienced volleyball players and as they grow you will see them hit the harder one. But they are also easy because they have less steps and less strain on the body.  The cross and bounce are the hardest becaus...

The diffrent types of volleyballs

Image
The different types of volleyballs  Disclaimer We are going to be focusing on indoor volleyball and I'm not telling you which one you should buy.  When talking about the different types of volleyballs we are talking about the different designs for a Volleyball.   When you look at this volleyball you can see that it's smooth and the way that it was sowed.  when looking at this volleyball you can see that it was sown differently then the ball above but it is still smooth on the surface.  This is different from the other two balls because this one has grooves in the ball if you look closely, but also the stitching is different.  Each of these balls are different from each other. It could be that one is better at cutting through the air. It could be that you could add more spin to a ball. then one of these balls could be better when hitting rather than serving.  The mikasa.  The volleyball made by Mikasa is well known for making everything eas...

the types of shoes volleyball players should pick

Image
The Types of Shoes Volleyball players should pick Disclaimer  I am not telling you what shoes to buy but I'm just trying to inform you of the different things you should look out for and tell you what I have seen.  when deciding the types of shoes a person should get it all depends on the person. The reason why the types of shoes matter is because different shoes will react differently when playing on a certain floor. for example you wouldn't use simple shoes because they would get any grip on the floor and then you will be sliding a lot.  the Shoe Yypes  for everyone they prefer different shoes when it comes to volleyball some people use basketball shoes and some use actual volleyball shoes.(Just putting this out there I  have seen people play with indoor soccer shoes and they have said they do get some pretty good grip.) It was these shoes that i say them play in. for example me personally I use basketball shoes because one im broke and I found them on ...

How to properly recive a ball.

Image
How to properly receive a ball. There are many different ways to receiving a ball but the main focus is where the ball hits your platform.  Example of proper reciving  The Stance The way that you are standing does play a big role on your receiver with the improper stance you could potentially hurt yourself or you could shank the ball. (To shank a ball is to receive the ball so properly to where the ball is sent anyway too far for your teammates to receive the ball and it goes out of bounds.)  The proper stance is to be in a square position low to the ground and have your hands out like the photo shown above.  The platform You also want the ball to hit below the elbow and above the wrist. That is when the ball should hit to speed the force of the ball throughout the body. you also need to adjust how you grip your hands and the way they are placed. Things not to do when receiving for beginners   There are many things not to do but a major thing is to not ...

how to add top spin on a ball

Image
Adding Top Spin To The Volleyball What is a Top spin  Top spin is when you hit the volleyball at the top most part of it so that it spins more towards the ground allowing the ball to drop faster and with more power.  when trying to add some top spin you want to hit the ball at the top of it while flicking your wrist to make the ball drop faster. you will also notice when spiking the ball the same mechanics come into play which could make transitioning serves very easily.  Pros The pros of a top spin ball is that you can add more force and you can place the ball where you want faster and maybe even score some easy points.  you have more creativity when you are hitting the ball for example you can curve the ball  or you can make it go straight down.  In the short in the hyperlink you can see that the server is hitting a top spin but he add a curve to his ball. You could do that with a float ball but a float is much easier to predict because you have more ti...

Float serve

Image
Float serve  A float serve is one of the most popular and most used serves in the game of volleyball. A floater serve is a serve with no spin and can occasionally shake in the air. The reason the float serve is one of the most used serves in volleyball is because of the different versions you can mix it up with.  The one that is mostly used is a serve that shakes in the air but there is a version of the float serve that will randomly start to drop fast, there is even one the curves. The float serve that is going to be talked about in this blog is the simplest serve, the one with no spin.  Stance there are different stances to hit a float serve but the easiest is just a simple standing position . This stance takes less time to get comfortable because it's the second most stance used in the game of volleyball and it also puts less strain on your whole body but puts the most strain on your arms. Then there is the jump serve   where you hit the ball when you jump ...

The rules of the court

Rules of the court                In this blog post we will be going over something that everyone needs to know if they want to play   volleyball, THE RULES! before we get to the rules we need to know the court it self  The full court is 18 meters or 60ft with each team's court 9 feet each. Each team's court will have an attack   line at the 10ft from the net. Then in the  middle of court is your net with the out of bound antennas which   mark the out of  bounds for players, at each end of the court that mark the out of bounds for back row   players.  that makes up the court.   the game is played best of 3 in JV and best of 4 in Varsity each set go until 25 or until one team beats the   other team by two(Thats called a duce) now lets start getting to the rules  court rules           player set-u...
