How to properly recive a ball.

How to properly receive a ball.

There are many different ways to receiving a ball but the main focus is where the ball hits your platform.

Example of proper reciving

The Stance

The way that you are standing does play a big role on your receiver with the improper stance you could potentially

hurt yourself or you could shank the ball. (To shank a ball is to receive the ball so properly to where the ball is

sent anyway too far for your teammates to receive the ball and it goes out of bounds.)

The proper stance is to be in a square position low to the ground and have your hands out like the photo shown

above.

The platform

You also want the ball to hit below the elbow and above the wrist. That is when the ball should hit to speed the

force of the ball throughout the body. you also need to adjust how you grip your hands and the way they are placed.

Things not to do when receiving for beginners

There are many things not to do but a major thing is to not swing your body when receiving a ball because with

the force of the body swing and the ball force if they counter act it could shank the ball. for beginners this at the

top of the list because sometime people forget and the will move while trying to recivie the ball

This is not good

Something is to hit the ball while running. running and hitting the ball is the best option sometimes but it shouldn't

be your first choice. the only time you should hit the ball while running to to try and hit it behind yourself to try

and get it over but this should only be done if you dont have enough time to get you feet planted and your

platform set. Here is a video to show you to do and not to do when receiving.
